First Black New York Governor appointed

Well, since former New York Governor Eliot Spitzer has gone and gotten himself caught up up in a prostitution ring and had to resign, his Lt. Governor David Paterson is taking over as Governor of New York on March 17th and is the first black man (he’s also of Jamaican and Grenadian heritage) to do so.

Paterson also made history by becoming the first legally blind person to address the Democratic National Convention and the first visually impaired person to become Governor of any state. Congrats to him.

black and blind. wow! I can only imagine what struggles he must have gone through to reach this high up in US politics. i'm sure his biography would be a fascinating read.
