Farewell, El Verno
El Verno is laid to rest in Westbury Cemetery
I'm a little late with this but I can't let today go by without acknowledging the passing of master drummer, poet, songwriter and dancer Vern "El Verno del Congo" Best, BCH. El Verno was laid to rest last Saturday at the Westbury Cemetery.
The late songwriter is perhaps best known for his folk hit "Welcome the Morning Sun". He was lovingly remembered by the Rastafarian, entertainment and the Ethiopian Orthodox communities.
"The will to live always overcame el Verno del Congo . . . . So when we welcome our morning sun, let us rejoice that a man of integrity, will, power and love touched us, and made a difference. We can all do that too," his daughter Onika Best said in her eulogy.
Rest in peace, El Verno.

thanks. this onika his daughter. It is a pity that everyone turned a blind eye like they could not see or help that powers were trying to frustrate and make him want to die.
