So I hear that the Republican National Committee in the USA has appointed Michael Steele, former Lt. Governor of Maryland, as their first black Chairman.
Well, well, well. Coincidence? I think not. I suspect this is their response to the presence of one President Barack Obama in the White House. If they're trying to tout this Steele gentleman as an alternative to Obama, they're not only obvious but so insincere it hurts. If they were really interested in having an African American represent their party, they would have nominated one back in the primary or as John McCain's running mate.
As it is, this move looks reactive and just plain silly. So I say, whatevaaaaa.
