Rihanna nominated for four six Grammy Awards
Talk about a Christmas present. On the heels of an American Music Awards win, Rihanna has scored another major achievement, not one but four Grammy nominations.
The Bajan singer was nominated in the categories Record of the Year for her hit Umbrella, Song of the Year, also for Umbrella, Best R&B Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals (Hate That I Love You featuring Ne-Yo) and Best R&B Song (Hate That I Love You featuring Ne-Yo).
The category Record of the Year will pit her against heavyweights Beyonce (Irreplaceable), Amy Winehouse (Rehab), Justin Timberlake (What Goes Around...Comes Around) and the Foo Fighters (The Pretender).
The 50th Annual GRAMMY Awards will be held on February 10, 2008, at Staples Center in Los Angeles and will be broadcast live on CBS from 8 – 11:30 p.m. (ET/PT).

I think Rihanna has this locked down. She's already beaten Beyonce and Umbrella was such a monster hit it that it should run right over the other contenders. I have a good vibe about this....
AMENDMENT
I'm a tad confused because now I see that Rihanna's label Def Jam is reporting that she received six nominations. Anyhoo, she was nominated and that's all that matters. On to the winning stage now!

She's actually nominated for three Grammys: Record of the Year (which I really think she has a good chance of winning), Best R&B performance by a duo/group, and Best Dance Record (for Don't Stop the Music). The nominations for Song of the Year and Best R&B song go to the songwriters, not Rihanna.
Thanks for comment, titilayo. I had planned to amend my earlier post but the computer crashed. But I'm still hearing it's four nominations so I don't know.

Three, four, five, 695...it doesn't matter how many Grammy...she deserves NONE of them. NONE.
The Grammys are so laughable.
This poem salutes Rihanna on her 6 Grammy nominations, she must be elated. I wish her many successes in converting these into awards but what ever the outcome, Bajans have much to be proud of this daughter of the soil. My poem has many highlights hidden in the text. For those of you viewing it in mono, you may have some difficulty finding the hidden message. See also the left spine, the first letter in each line down the length of the poem. Thanks again Bajegirl for being the first to bring this news to me.
